Pedestrian deaths soar to 40-year high

The Governors Highway Safety Association’s (GHSA) latest preliminary report has been published. It projects 7,508 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in 2022, the highest number of pedestrian deaths since 1981.

The findings for 2022, and an accompanying analysis of federal government data from 2021, showed that pedestrian deaths in the United States have continued to rise over the last decade.
